Know your enemy if you want to survive…

The only way for Khya to get her brother back alive is to kill Varan—the immortal ruler who can’t be killed. But not even Varan knew what he was doing when he perverted magic and humanity to become immortal.

Khya’s leading her group of friends and rebels into the mountains that hold Varan’s secrets, but if risking all their lives is going to be worth it, she has to give up everything else—breaking the spell that holds her brother captive and jeopardizing her deepening relationship with Tessen, the boy who has been by turns her rival and refuge since her brother disappeared. Immortality itself might be her only answer, but if that’s where Khya has to go, she can’t ask Tessen or her friends to follow. Amazon | Amazon Australia | Amazon UK | Amazon Canada | B&N | Kobo

The Blog Squad: A Blogger Collaboration - Part XXXI

Do you re-read books?
Oh course! I’ve reread Harry Potter many many times but sometimes they’re not full rereads. Sometimes I go straight to a part or chapter I love and read it! Generally I reread favorites when I’m in a slump. Harry Potter and LOTR have a way of getting me out of slumps.

I also reread when I’m not in the best mood. When I’m not in a good mood I rarely start new books because I worry my bad mood will seep into my feelings for the book so I go to the books that I know I will love for sure!

I rarely re-read a whole book, but I will re-read sections of it. For example, I often re-read bits of books…

In the kingdom of Sempera, time is currency—extracted from blood, bound to iron, and consumed to add time to one’s own lifespan. The rich aristocracy, like the Gerlings, tax the poor to the hilt, extending their own lives by centuries.

No one resents the Gerlings more than Jules Ember. A decade ago, she and her father were servants at Everless, the Gerlings’ palatial estate, until a fateful accident forced them to flee in the dead of night. When Jules discovers that her father is dying, she knows that she must return to Everless to earn more time for him before she loses him forever.

But going back to Everless brings more danger—and temptation—than Jules could have ever imagined. Soon she’s caught in a tangle of violent secrets and finds her heart torn between two people she thought she’d never see again. Her dec…

Weekly Round Up #51 : The One Where December is Busy Busy

Here's my weekly roundup. I'm linking to The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer and #IMWAYR hosted by Kathryn at the Book Date.

Please leave a link to your blog (if you have one) in your comment or make sure your Disqus profile has your address so that I can visit you back!

I try to link all book covers to Goodreads or to my review (if there is one) which is in turn linked to Goodreads.

Well, my first week in December was a busy one, both on and off the blog! One of my horses came down with colic so that was an eventful evening. Luckily she pulled through and is back to full health now but it was scary there for a while!

I still haven't finished putting up our Christmas tree - it's hard with a three year old! Her attention span is not conducive to putting up and decorating a 9 foot tree!!! But at least we're doing it together and getting into the Christmas spirit and it's not looking too bad in the meantime.

I participated in two book blitz…

What is one thing you’d like to see more of in the book blogosphere?
I 100% agree with Amy on this one! I’d love to see more bloggers speak out about the topics they feel passionate about. I know the blogosphere is a wonderful place to be and most of us are also afraid to post about controversial topics and unpopular opinions. I myself have been very hesitant about posting unpopular reviews or talking about controversial bookish topics so I honestly understand the fear about it. But all those who read this blog, if you’ve been planning to write such a post, let me know when you do! I’ll get there at your post to s…
